The Facts

We are building a model of the Cathedral from LEGO bricks. The idea came from BrightBricks, who are working with four cathedrals (Durham, Chester, Exeter and St Edmundsbury) to create four LEGO cathedrals. The project is designed to be a fundraiser for the each cathedral. By donating £1 another brick will be added.

The bricks are added in modules, each with its own set of plans. Our team of volunteer builders add the bricks as people donate and once a module is complete, it gets added to the model.

We started in May 2016 and still have some way to go! We are currently adding the south aisle roof.

Did you know…?

  • There will be 200,000 bricks in the finished Cathedral model
  • You can buy your own model from the Cathedral Shop (picture attached St Eds- Front)
  • Every brick is a genuine LEGO brick – nothing has been made specially for this project
